The Russ Hamilton Video & Flack Bashing

The video that is spreading over the Internet faster than a bush fire is the Russ Hamilton interview, or should one say non-interview. Never before has anyone said so much without speaking a word. The Raw Vegas video was filmed by Dave Farra. Russ Hamilton by now should need no introduction to those who follow poker.
Farra accosted Hamilton as he was leaving an exclusive golf course at Las Vegas along with Layne Flack. Farra took the walk with Hamilton to the latter’s car, all along showering Hamilton with questions. Hamilton did not respond to any. In fact he gave no indication of acknowledging Farra’s existence, except for a slight look of frustration towards the end of the interview.
Farra asked the obvious questions.
* “Are you associated in any way with the UltimateBet.net super user cheating scandal?”
* “Would you like to take this opportunity to apologize to the online poker community?”
* “When ‘60 Minutes’ requested an interview, you declined. Would there be guilt associated with that?”
* “Do you have any remorse at all?”
* “After so many years in the poker community, don’t you feel you owe an answer to the fans and fellow players out there?”
The response to the video has been enormous in the online poker forums. Tom Schneider was at his vituperative best at Pokerati. He said that Hamilton is as guilty as O.J. was and Schneider does not require an endorsement from the courts. Schneider goes on to say, “I would for the first time in my life … feel good about breaking the law and living out the rest of my life in prison knowing I had rid the world of one of the most despicable people in the poker world.”
There was no support for Hamilton but there were mixed reactions on Raw Vegas’ journalistic endeavor. Some called it quality journalism whereas others said that Hamilton’s silence rendered the exercise futile. One guy even suggested that the whole thing was done with a Russ Hamilton look alike. Raw Vegas has the temerity to do such a thing but perhaps not with this serious an issue.
Hamilton had lost admirers a long time back, but if Flack had any he has surely lost them now. Wicked Chops Poker pointed out how quickly Flack tried to get out of the camera’s view, but it was not quick enough. He has been lambasted even more than Hamilton has.
Schneider wrote, “I can’t tell you how disappointed I was to see Layne playing golf with the piece of shit.” This coming after Flack’s accusation that Doyle had bought some of his WSOP bracelets is perhaps the end of the road for Flack.
