The Kahnawake Gaming Commission gave its final report on the Ultimate Bet cheating scandal that rocked the poker world last year, highlighting a number of issues that many knew already, but also dispelling a number of myths – including those involving Tokwiro Enterprises.
Tokwiro, parent company of Ultimate Bet and sister site of Absolute Poker, got a lot of the flack when news of the scandal first broke, with many presuming that management was in the know and was simply covering for people employed by the group.
But the latest Kahnawake Gaming Commission report shows that this was simply not true. Not only was Tokwiro totally unaware of the holes in the control system that allowed Russ Hamilton and other cheaters to get away with their scam, but it also cooperated fully with the authorities once they learned of the matter.
Tokwiro Enterprises is all set on clearing its name once and for all in a two pronged fashion. Firstly, it is doing all it can to right the wrong caused by the Ultimate Bet cheating scandal, including removing all cheaters from its midst, whether it be from the ownership of the company or its management system.
The group is also set to pay back any players who were caught out in the scam a total of $22 million.
“The welfare of our players is our top priority and we are very pleased they now have access to the details of the fraud and all the facts and findings released by the KGC included in their report,” noted the Chief Executive Officer of Tokwiro, Paul Leggett in a press release. “A lot of our players have been patiently awaiting the release of the full list of usernames involved in the cheating incidences, and we can now answer any of their outstanding inquiries.”
The other method used by Tokwiro to get things back on track is simply to spend enormous amounts of cash and effort into promoting the two sites on the Cereus Network, Ultimate Bet and Absolute Poker. The two sites have been rebuilt from scratch, with new staff and management to see them into the next era of online poker.
Leggett stressed that none of the individuals who perpetrated the crimes were involved in any way with the company and that he hoped the Kahnawake report would help the poker community understand that once for all.
