Michael Tureniec is the latest poker pro to join the popular US and poker Mac room, Full Tilt. He will be the fist player from Sweden and the fourteenth player overall to be a member of Team Full Tilt. Team Full Tilt includes legends such as Phil Ivey, Howard Lederer, Gus Hansen, Jennifer Harman and Patrik Antonius.
Tureniec has made steady progress over the last two years. He was at 1520 in the Player of the Year for 2007 and improved considerably to 321 in the Player of the Year 2008 list. He now occupies the 298th place in the Bluff Poker rankings. However it was his performance in two recent tournaments that did the trick for Tureniec. He was the runner up in the London stop of the European Poker Tour in October 2008, where he cashed for almost a million dollars. He followed this up with 19th place in the Crown Aussie Millions Championship earlier in January. Tureniec has a lifetime live tournament winnings of over $1.3 million.
The deal was arranged for Tureniec by his agents Vegas Group in collaboration with Poker Icons. Ever since he started playing poker in 2003 Tureniec has been dreaming of playing for Full Tilt Poker. Reacting to the deal an overjoyed Tureniec said, “It feels great to be the first Swede to sign with Full Tilt Poker. This is naturally a large step forward in my poker career.”
Tureniec started playing poker at the age of 17, when he was introduced to the game by some friends. He perfected his game the hard way by playing online poker day and night. He turned pro in 2006 and now supports himself only through poker. He has made over half a million dollars in online poker playing no limit Texas Hold’em tournaments. So far he has played online under his own name and avatar. But now he will don the Full Tilt avatar. This will enable him to play more and win more. Very soon online players will be able to play with him at his personal table at full Tilt Poker.
Full Tilt Poker is the fastest growing online poker room. After narrowly missing out 10,000 players per hour mark on the 4th of January 2009, the traffic rebounded to cross this barrier on the 13th of January and again on the 26th of January. The traffic on the 26th of January is the highest recorded at 10,433 players per hour.
