The world’s fastest sprinter, Usain Bolt has teamed up with the online poker site, PokerStars and become a sponsored player. Bolt, who has won eight gold Olympic medals in his brilliant athletic career, is to become a member of the PokerStars team and represent the poker site in marketing campaigns. He will make live appearances in a bid to attract new players to the site.

PokerStars’ vice president of corporate communications, Eric Hollreiser said about the new member of Team PokerStars: “Usain Bolt is a fierce competitor who pushes his game to the limits. But he’s also one of the most-liked athletes in the world. His strong global following and winning personality will help us to introduce poker in a fun, social and fast way.”
Bolt was also keen to share the good news of his new poker haunt and said in a message on social media: “PokerStars is a winner, and I’m happy to join Kevin in helping to bring poker and PokerStars to the masses. It’s a challenging game that’s fun, social, and competitive, so I’m pleased to be able to introduce it to my fans and to people around the world.”
The Jamaican sprinter is an anomaly in the world of athletics, and is the first person in the world to hold the 100m, 200m and 4 x 100m relay records. He is currently the reigning world champion in all three events. Bolt is the most successful World Championships athlete, having won consecutive races in all three of the previously mentioned events from 2009 to 2015. The sports icon has indicated that he will not compete in the Tokyo Olympics in 2020, and is turning to other pastimes – like endorsing PokerStars – as he heads into his retirement years.
