The latest edition to Michele Lewis’ Studs of Poker took a long time coming, precisely eight months after the last one. But it has come with a bang. And what a bang it has been for Wicked Chops Poker (WCP), because the owners of WCP, or “The Entities” as they like to be called, are the new Studs of Poker.
Now that Bluff Magazine has granted them legitimacy in the world of poker there will be many more kudos for WCP. And the astute Michele probably thought that she should get hers in ahead of the pack. Or may be it was pay back time for all the mileage she is given on WCP. So what does Michele reveal about The Entities who run WCP? She reveals what we already know, which is nothing. The Entities do reveal however why they prefer to remain anonymous.
“We decided really early on that this blog wasn’t going to be so much about who we are and what we do. So we’ve remained consistent with that vision. And by “vision” we mean that in the least pretentious sounding kind of way. It’s just not our style. It works for Pauly, who does great personal writing, but that’s just not us. Plus, people come to the site to see hot chicks, not three aging yet still sexy pigs.” This is creditable.
And The Entities admire this trait in others. They name Daniel Negreanu and Phil Hellmuth, who they say are more concerned about raising the profile of the game rather than their own profiles. They add, “If more of the top guys did what Daniel and Phil Hellmuth do, there would probably be more mainstream advertising dollars and acceptance pouring into poker.”
When Michele asked if they have ever pissed of any of their readers, The Entities replied that they have mellowed down and are less brutal than they were when they started. Reading the stuff that appears on their portal it is difficult to accept that claim. Maybe one would have to actually check out their archives and find out.
There can be no Michele Lewis interview without sexism, especially if the interview is about WCP. So this latest Studs of Poker has its share of risqué remarks and double entendres. This one is the pick of the lot.
MICHELE: How big is your jet?
ENTITIES: Around 10 inches.
MICHELE: Was that a sexual answer or did you buy a jet at the airport gift shop?
Come to think of it, there was some information on the private life of The Entities. They are married, one of them to a woman of Asian origin. And the wives are cool with the hot chicks that figure on the portals of WCP.
