Harrah’s Entertainment Gaming Company signed an agreement to air the main event of the World Series of Poker on Pay Per View.

The WSOP Main Event will be the only aired on Pay Per View. This main event is the $10,000 buy-in no limit holdem tournament. Joe Hachem was the previous years winner of $7.5 million and a gold bracelet.

Jeffrey Pollack stated that the WSOP is where it is today mainly because of ESPN and the air time they’ve gotten since 1993. That is one of the main reasons Harrah’s has decided to re-up their contract for another 4 years ending in 2010. This television deal is the biggest television deal for a poker company.

In 2005 the World Series of Poker gave out more than $103,000 million in tournament winnings and is expected to grow larger and larger each year. In 2006 Harrah’s expects there could be as many as 8,000 potential players in the main event.

The Pay Per View event will be dubbed with the name “World Series of Poker Live.” The event can be seen on August 10th at 3:00 pm eastern time. The pay per view event will go on until someone takes the title. The PPV event will cost $24.95 and can be ordered by going to www.espnpayperview.com or through your PPV provider.

Players will be able to view regularly scheduled WSOP circuit events on ESPN starting July 18th and continuing each week up until the main event. Over 32 hours of coverage will be aired on ESPN during this time.
