Bad Beat Stories Suck but Bloggers Get $1000 for em

Mysery loves company right? Ok, so I fricken hate bad beat stories but some can be pretty amusing so I thought it would be fun to run a little competition for the best bad beat story. This will be a blogger only competition for the person who tells the best bad beat story.

Editor Note: One of the most legitimate and popular poker sites for real money and available to all 50 states is (verified main sponsor)

I’m going to be the judge along with input from Matt (even though I haven’t asked him yet) but he’s my biatch so he’s gonna do it! :) What I’m looking for are bad beat stories not just about how you got unlucky because a guy had aces and you had kings….whoopdy fricken do.

Unless it’s a really bad beat involving poker it probably won’t win. If you lost your entire bankroll in a night, or a friend donked off all your poker earnings I’ll consider it but I’m looking for some original stuff here.

My personal bad beat story would be buying my house right before the housing market crashed and losing about $500,000 in the stock market since then etc.

Videos are also a good idea. Maybe you have a hand replayer of a bad major losing session? Whatever just be unique. I heard a story where this one guy lost his entire bankroll (like $200k) playing at a hotel in Vegas and tried to run through the glass window of the room and jump off the building. Turns out the glass wasn’t very breakable and he didn’t exactly accomplish it. Funny in a sick kind of way.

Ok so basically all you have to do is write your bad beat story on your blog. I will take the first 25 contestants. Your blog must be at least a year old that you actually write in and in it you must reference and one page you find on this site useful (hint, hint, my US poker page) via links that do not use nofollow tags. Come back and post the url of your blog entry in the comment section.

A good topic would be maybe how you lost your job and now are totally f’d and living in your mom’s basement and grinding it out at the $.25/$.5 tables. Oh yeah, please no sob stories about deaths. I really don’t want to be put in the situation in comparing whos family death was the worst beat.

Anyway I’ll be following this contest up with a “Best Poker Related Brag” contest where again, the winner gets $1,000 funded via pokerstars or fulltiltpoker for the best Brag story. It’s always fun to hear people’s success stories as well!

So to sum it up here are the requirements.

  • Write your Bad Beat Story on your blog.
  • Link to and another page on this website.
  • Your blog must be a year old and active.
  • If we pick you, you get $1,000 funded by us into your poker account.

If we don’t get 50 bloggers I dunno, maybe I’ll just hand out $25 or $50 for every person that does it or split the $1000 among the top 5 entrants.  Only 5 entrants?  That means you all get $200.  That’s it, let the games begin.  Do your worst!

Ok man, I think this qualifies as a bad beat. I could have been out of debt this weekend, but it would have cost me .20 more cents.

I feel a little sick to my stomach as well. That sucks BIG TIME. And the fact you got a screenshot….craziness. My mouse would be in pieces after that one!

Nice contest fellas. Randy, I would not have been right in the head for a couple weeks. That is miserable to say the least.

Kaus yea that’s a goofy one all right. To lose on a full house when you could’ve out boated him sucks! I had a similiar thing happen where the first card flipped and it was a king. I proceeded to still get dealt pocket kings and then the board flopped another king! I joked I had 3 kings, nobody believed. :)

Also, I’ve lowered the number of entrants to 25 needed and changed it so that the $1000 will get split among the top 5 entrants if the full 25 don’t enter. :)

I need to go watch happy feet or something now – I feel so bad for you. :(

Not a bad beat hand but perhaps this will qualify as a lesson learned the hard way !

  11. RogerCP February 17, 2009 at 4:44 pm #

Oh that’s a bad beat alright Harry. $10K down the drain just because you didnt deposit! Ouch. Make sure about those links and that it’s a new post if you want to qualify for this contest too, lol. :)

I want to personally thank Randy for ruining this contest by putting up the worst bad beat first. :)

He’s the obv. winner, both me and Matt agree and since no other contestants are entering we have decided that he would have been the winner anyways.

$1,000 coming your way. Let me know your screeny.

LOL thank guys! I hope to never have a beat like this again!! Your contest takes some of the sting away though.

Sorry for killing the contest action, but on the bright side I’m betting your traffic has gone way up!

    Thanks again!
